Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Several years ago there was a popular song about how the storyteller had overcome many obstacles and setbacks, brokenness and even depression to reach a new season in her life. She declared that a lesson had been learned and her attitude had changed. As a result everything in her life was new – her attitude, her wardrobe, her style and her perspective on life. Whatever brought about this change in her life was so powerful that she chose to proclaim it to the world.
The joy with which the storyteller delivered this message reminds me of the joy that Christians have as a result of being made new in Jesus Christ. The passage in 2 Corinthians 5:16-21, declares the amazing change that occurs in the life of those who receive Jesus Christ as Savior. Everything that we used to be is gone. Notice that the passage states that old things have passed away. Through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, we are made new. We have a new attitude (Colossians 3:4-10); a new wardrobe (Romans 13:11-14); a new perspective (Romans 12:2); a new purpose (2 Corinthians 5:18-20).
Has your attitude changed since you have been made new in Jesus Christ? Joyfully let it show in your lifestyle as you walk in newness.
