Faithful Love – New Hope – New Beginning
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24
In his book, Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis wrote these words
“But the great thing to remember is that, though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not. It is not wearied by our sins, or our indifference; and, therefore, it is quite relentless in its determination that we shall be cured of those sins, at whatever cost to us, at whatever cost to Him.”
It is wonderful to know that God’s loving faithfulness toward us is not based on our faithfulness to Him. As a matter of fact, He demonstrates His faithful character even when we are faithless (2 Timothy 2:13). When we abuse our freedom of fellowship with Him by our disobedience, He does not rescind His faithful call of fellowship that we have with His Son Jesus Christ. Just the opposite, He opens the door for us, by confession and repentance of our sin, to be restored in fellowship (1 John 1:9).
When we are tempted by the world’s rules in our thoughts, attitudes and conduct, He has already prepared for us a way to endure and to overcome the temptations of the world (1 Corinthians 10:13). When we are being pressed in spiritual warfare, He gives us strength and protects us from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3). And when we have strayed from His will for us – He is ever waiting for our return. If you are still breathing, you have not yet gone so far that God cannot restore you to himself — if you are willing to return.
Over and over again, He says in His Word, ‘return to Me’. His love which was overflowing in the beginning, never ceases. And He will welcome home the repentant heart that hopes to begin again.
The King is coming. Are you ready?
